Obituary of Maurice Rozon
Passed away peacefully on February 24, 2022, with his wife and family by his side. Beloved husband of Gisele (née Morin). Loving father of Joanne Middleton (Jeff), Marc (Joanne), Mitch (Lorraine). Dearly loved grandfather of Ryan Johnston ( Erin ), Trevor Rozon ( Melissa ), Chantal Rozon ( Craig ), Todd Rozon, & Melissa Rozon. Loving Great Grand Father of Teigan, Ama, Aaron, Morgan, Taylor, Matthew. Maurice is survived by his brother Aurel, and by his brother in-law Bernie Sumbler. Predeceased by sisters, Clemence ( Padou ) & Irene & his mother Berthe Lacroix Rozon. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Maurice grew up in Aumont, Quebec. Moved to Ontario in 1945, where he met Gisele & was married in July 1955. As a father of 3, Maurice & Gisele enjoyed traveling in the summers & camping with the Family.
Maurice worked most of his life at Inco & retired in 1992. While at Inco, Maurice had many positions but finally retired as a supervisor.
Maurice & Gisele spent the next 20 years travelling. After a European summer vacation in 1990, they spent the balance of their years wintering in Louisiana, Texas, & Arizona, while also travelling in both Ontario & Quebec in the summer months.
They loved being “on the road”. Maurice was an avid angler. He & his sons participated in an annual Fishing trip every summer. He also was passionate about golf and was a member of the Port Colborne Golf & Country Club. Both Maurice & Gisele attended St. Jean de Brébeuf & were members of the Le Centre des Ainé.
Maurice loved to talk with people. He never met a stranger. Every person was just a friend he hadn’t met yet.
Our family is eternally grateful to the staff at Northland Pointe for their excellent kind & compassionate care of our beloved Maurice/Dad.
At Maurice’s request, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Friday March 4, 2022 from 10-11 a.m. A Memorial Service will follow in the Armstrong Chapel at 11 a.m. Burial of cremated remains will take place in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St. Jean de Brébeuf or Port Cares.
Donations of non-perishable food to St. Jean de Brébeuf or Port Cares would also be welcomed.
