
Obituary of Maria Ottaviano
It is with great sadness that Maria’s family announces her sudden passing on July 31, 2021 in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Mario Ottaviano – 1987. Loving mother of Maurizio (Suzanne), Mark and the late Davide - 2018. Nonna will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Adam (Spencer), Nathan (Annie), Morgan (Jessie), Garner, Olivia (Evan), Marcus, and by her great grandchildren Eli, Tevan, Arkell, Andi and Maezie. She is survived by her brother Franco, by her sisters Linda and Wilma, and by many relatives and friends here in Canada and in Italy. Predeceased by her parents Domenico & Linda D’Alberto and by her sisters Graziella & Anna.
Maria was born in Slivi Marina Provincia Di Teramo and immigrated to Canada as a young bride with her husband Mario in 1960. She was an amazing woman and raised a young family mostly on her own. She worked very hard throughout her life, helping farm, gardening and cooking. She was a faithful member of St. Therese of Lisieux, and was a member of the Port Colborne Bocce Club. Maria loved to travel to Mexico and Italy, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.
The Ottaviano family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Wednesday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Vigil will be recited at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at St. Therese of Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, 379 Fares Street, Port Colborne, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Janusz Roginski as celebrant. Rite of Committal with will follow at Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation.
