Anne Aarts

Obituary of Anne Marie Aarts

Aarts, Anne Marie (née Vriend) Passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on Sunday, July 11, 2021. Beloved wife of Theodorus Aarts. Loving and devoted mother to Leonard, Wilma (Robert) and Jo-Anne (Serena). Loving Oma (the spark and wink of Oma’s eyes) to Ky-Leigh. Cherished sister to Willem Vriend (the late Ria) and Jopie Vriend-Schouten (the late John). Loved by many cousins, nephews and nieces. Predeceased by her parents Jacob and Johanna Vriend and her sister Nel Stam (the late Lou). Annie was a tireless, hard-working maternity nurse (Krammverzorgster) in the Netherlands. She continued her profession upon moving to Canada in 1962. Annie also spent time canvassing for Heart and Stroke. Her warm hospitality and conversation will be lovingly remembered by her many friends and family. Annie loved her gardens especially her many Moon Plants which were one of her favorites. She couldn’t wait to tell you how many had opened the previous night and was happy to have you take some of her plants so you could have some at home to enjoy. Annie and Theo loved to watch the hummingbirds at their feeder and cherished their dog Bailey. She loved all of our pets and you could always count on her to have a little treat for them at the table. Annie loved her word find puzzles and was always up for a good game of Rummikub, which of course you played by her rules. She truly cared about everyone she met and would always ask us how our friends and family were. We will truly miss her smile, kindness, sense of humor and of course the ever famous Oma wink.
