Anne Simpson

Obituary of Anne Simpson

Anne Simpson (nee Martindale), 72, long-time resident of Brampton, Ontario but whose heart belonged in Cape Breton, passed away peacefully on April 25th, 2021. Survived by her husband of 51 years, best friend and backyard companion, Wayne Simpson. Together Anne and Wayne created a beautiful life full of family and friends. Wonderful parents to Kari Simpson (Christopher Frisch) and Brent Simpson. As much as Anne loved being a Mom, her greatest joy was being Gigi to her amazing grandsons Ethan Morrison (Nicole Rokicki) and Wyatt Morrison. Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia Anne was the daughter of Len Martindale and Agnes MacMullin. She was the beloved baby sister to Gaye MacDonald (Kenny MacDonald & Albert Mombourquette) and Barbara Caravello (Mel Caravello). Later in life, Anne was thrilled to become a big sister to Len Keizer (Catherine) and Dave Hamer (Marlene). Anne was the much adored Aunt to Joy, Tony (Diane), Glenn (Brandee), Adrian (Valarie), Kenny (Lisa), Kelly (Will), and Tracey (Darren). She was also Auntie Anne and Mama Anne to many others whom she loved with all her heart. Anne enjoyed life to the fullest, from lunches with the ladies, to many great travel adventures with family and friends. But no matter where her travels took her; her favourite places were walking down Main Street USA in Disney with Ethan and Wyatt, sitting on the Mira River with her sisters and many wonderful cousins, and entertaining her family, friends, and neighbours around the pool at 16 Medina Place. No one loved a good party like Anne! We will celebrate in true Anne style and have a Ceilidh to honour her fabulous life when we can all be together. Until then, we know Gigi will be FastPass’ing her way through Heavens Gates, faster than the Disney World line ups. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Sick Kids would be appreciated.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will celebrate in true Anne style and have a Ceilidh to honour her fabulous life when everyone can all be together.
