Eva Kah

Obituary of Eva Kah

January 13, 1924 – April 22, 2021 Passed away peacefully at Heidehof Nursing Home in St. Catharines on Thursday, April 22, at the age of 97. Predeceased by her parents Henry and Katharina Bierer, brother Henry Bierer (Helma) of London and sister Katharina Schaefer (John)of Germany. Loving wife of Peter (deceased), loving mother of her son, Herbert (Kirsten), and sons, Wilhelm (deceased) and Walter (deceased). Lovingly remembered by her grandson, Michael (Toby) and great grandsons, Jakob and Isak and the many cousins, nieces and nephews of the Kah, Bierer, Kehl and Petri families. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking and taking care of her family. One of her favourite past-times was having folks drop in and sit around her large kitchen table for coffee and cake and “kvetching”. She was born in Crastovac, Yugoslavia and during WWII had to flee, with her infant child, became a refugee and eventually came to Canada with her family in 1952. She and her husband worked in factories to help support the family and, after building their own house in 1956, raised their family there until her husband and two of her sons passed away. She was fiercely independent but when her health declined she had to move into Heidehof in 2015. There she received excellent care that enabled her to live to the age of 97. To the entire staff at Heidehof we express our sincerest gratitude. She was a member of the congregation of Christian Life Assembly until she entered Heidehof. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. Due to Covid limitations there will be no visitations. A graveside service with immediate family will be held at the interment at Overholt Cemetery. If so desired, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Community Living Association of Port Colborne, or The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ontario. Thank you on her behalf.

Due to current restrictions, there will be a private family burial at Overholt Cemetery.
