Margaret Payne

Obituary of Margaret Rose Payne

May 12, 1927-April 17, 2021 With heavy hearts, we sadly announce the passing of our Mom, Margaret. Predeceased by her loving parents George and Mary Yando, wonderful and loving husband George, sons David and Ken, sisters Barbara, Ann and Helen, brothers Frank and Steve and loving companion Bill “Doc” Halladay. She is survived by her daughter Gail, son Bill, grandchildren Charlene (Nick), Chris (Shelley), Jason (Tara), great grandchildren Cameron, Alex, Schuyler, Ken, Joe, Maddie, Dakota, Kyra and great great granddaughter Lilly. She is also survived by sisters Betty Kozma, Judy Stephen, Melvina Unger, brother Louie Yando and many, many wonderful nieces and nephews and their families. Mom’s life was full of love, laughter, music and adventure. So many fun trips with Dad up north fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. Trips down east to New Brunswick, where Dad was born, and out west to B.C. in a camper that Dad made. After Dad passed, magically, Mom was reconnected to a friend from her teen years, Bill Halladay. She flew to California with “Doc” and when she was in her early 60’s rode from California to Wainfleet on the back of Doc’s classic Harley-Davidson. Pretty impressive! We were so blessed to have her for so long. She left us with beautiful memories filled with love. We will always miss her, but are grateful she is at peace. Now she is on her next adventure, reuniting with loved ones forever. As Mom wished, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice, and would be a beautiful farewell.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
