Obituary of Mary Osborn
Passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Gilmore Lodge in Fort Erie in her 89th year.
Dearly loved mother of Beverly (Paul Serveau), Gary (Carol) Farnan and Randy (Elizabeth) Farnan. Affectionately known as “Grandma O” to her grandchildren Gary (Suzanne) Farnan, Leanne (Jeremy) Hayman, Blake (Rhonda Horton) Farnan, Shauna (Steve) Roch and Matthew (Stephanie) Farnan, as well as step-grandchildren Kristen (Bryan) Leveille, Amy (Matthew) Higgins, Michael (Melissa) Everett and Andrew (Sarah) Serveau. She was always delighted to hear about and visit her great grandchildren Julianna, Alyssa, Luke, Lily, Claire, Hudson, Skye, Javin, Oliver, Caleb, Rylan and Maya. Mary will be fondly remembered by her loving companion Donald Koabel.
The eldest of 7 children, she will be missed by her sisters Vivian Goly, Dorothy Patalakis and Janet King, all of Nova Scotia. She was predeceased by her sisters Mildred Murray and June Sloane and her brother Harold King.
In addition to her parents and siblings, Mary was predeceased by her infant daughter Cindy, her granddaughter Michele Riordan and her husband Charles “Chuck” Osborn.
Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia to the late Milton and Ella Mae King, Mary arrived in Ontario in 1947 and settled in Port Colborne where she ran a satellite home for seniors for many years on Brookfield Road. Right until her passing, she was a constant “helper” at Gilmore Lodge, always concerned for and about others, especially her dear friend Connie Campbell.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Mary's family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Armstrong Chapel. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to Gilmore Lodge- Ladies Auxiliary or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
