Whitty, Laurence Walter “Larry”

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 22, 2015 in is 78th year. Beloved husband of Mary Lou (nee Arbour). Loving father of Kevin (Carol), Catherine McLaughlin (Allan), Maureen Lewis (James) Carol Stinson, Colleen Burns (Barry), John (Tiffanie) all of Pennsylvania. Caring grandfather to Joseph & Daniel Whitty, Brian & Maggie McLaughlin, Paula Glitch, Valerie, Jason & Andrew Lewis, Ann Wolfe, Bruce & Mark Stinson , Shannon, Laureen & Sean Burns, Victoria, Carling & Brett Whitty, Dillon & Ryan Williams, and 9 great grandchildren. Survived by his sisters; Norah Tustin (Leo), Karen Ottwell (Lorne), and by many nieces, nephews and all who knew him. Predeceased by his parents Mabel & Laurence and by his siblings Frank, Kay, Jack & Mabel.

Larry was a family man who loved to spend time at his cottage and taking care of his garden. He was employed with INCO for 35 years. Larry was involved in scouting for over 25 years and was known as “Scouter Larry” taking many scouts to Haliburton Scout Camp, Philmont, New Mexico and Glasgow Scotland. Larry loved to leave a smile on everyone’s face.

The Whitty family will receive relatives and friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held in the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 123 King Street, Port Colborne with Fr. Brian Bevan as celebrant. Rite of committal will follow at Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to Home Hospice Association or Operation Smile.
