Leslie Biro

Obituary of Leslie Biro

It is with great sadness the family of Leslie Biro announce his passing on Friday May 19, 2017 at the Welland hospital. Born in Hungary, grandpa was the “Rock” to the family and lived a generous life of 91 years. Husband of Mary, for 41 years, step father to Sharon Chevalier (Kyle Hope) and brother to Ilanka, and family in Hungary. He will be missed dearly by his grandchildren Chad (Lisa), Mandy (Brian), Ryan (Lynn) and Brandon to whom he taught all he knows about Hungarian traditions. Les adored his great-grandchildren, Alanna, Alexis, Tristan, Haley, Carlee, and ‘Evil Knievel’ Jacob. Leslie came to Canada in 1951 and worked as a machinist and owner-operator of his garage in Brantford. He was a member of Kossuth Park in Wainfleet where he enjoyed being at his cottage daily reading his newspaper and sipping his coffee and brandy. In his early years he was an avid 10-pin bowler and previous member of Riverside Golf Course and Whisky Run Golf Course. Les and Mary were snowbirds for many years. The family wants to thank him for giving so much to them, always there to lend a hand even when his tired body was telling him to rest. Many thanks to our friends for their continued support while he was sick and for being there listening to his many stories and laughing with him. A thank you to the Dialysis Team, the hospital staff of Welland and St. Catherines, C.C.A.C, and Port Colborne Emergency Services. A special thank you to Chaplain Michelle Lepine who came to our call with prayer and blessings, and to all who have said prayers for this special man. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. Arrangements entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. In lieu of flowers, friends can make donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or SPCA in memory of Les.  "Don't be lazy, work hard and be successful."- Les.
